FAQs
Want to learn more about Hunter Buildings? Below you’ll find some frequently asked questions to help you understand Hunter from the outside in.
Why do I need a blast-resistant modular building?
If you have an existing project, a Hunter building can help your current work area meet blast standards in a quick and cost-effective manner.
If you have a new project, a Hunter blast-resistant building offers a more efficient solution to meeting blast-resistance standards. Unlike other modular buildings, a Hunter building can be kept in the blast zone—increasing worker productivity and more.
Are your buildings Class I Division 2 compliant?
Class I Division 2 defines the level of safety required for equipment installed in hazardous locations. All standard Hunter buildings are externally Class I Division 2 compliant.
Does my building need to have pressurization?
A building only needs to be pressurized if placed in a Class 1 Division 1 area.
How large or small of a structure can Hunter build?
Our standard size is 12’ x 40’; however, Hunter can design structures as small as a guard shack at 100 square feet up to a large multi-module complex exceeding 12,000 square feet.
What is a damage/response level?
The American Society of Civil Engineers has three response ranges for blast overpressures:
Low Response: Minor repairs from damage and building can be used again.
Medium Response: Significant repairs from widespread building damage.
High Response: Replace entire building due to loss of structural integrity from damage, building does not collapse.
How can a Hunter building help me become RP 752/753 compliant?
RP 752/753 guidelines require that buildings situated in any process area must be certified to withstand the blast overpressures for that given area. A Hunter building is appropriately rated to meet zone requirements for RP 752/753.
How is a Hunter building transported to my location?
Buildings are usually shipped by truck to your location. Hunter buildings are manufactured in our facility strategically located near the Port of Houston, where our buildings can be shipped by land or sea to locations worldwide.
Once a building is delivered to my site, how do I unload it?
Hunter buildings are constructed with lifting points at each building corner for easy lifting by mobile cranes.
Can my building have windows?
Yes, our blast windows are 30” x 36” with fixed panes. Windows can be combined to provide a larger viewing area. We also offer a window for doors.
Can your buildings be used to replace permanent structures such as control rooms?
Yes, our buildings can be used for permanent applications including control rooms, operator structures, zone shops, offices, labs and more.
How long will it take to receive my Hunter building?
For a standard building design, we can typically deliver a building within four weeks of order. For custom designs, the delivery times can vary based on design complexity. However, a custom building could be delivered within 90 days of approval of drawings.
